Acupuncture uses fine sterilized needles to stimulate specific points in the body to promote the circulation of “Qi” (the body’s own energy) and Blood through different meridians that supply the organs, body tissues, muscles and vessels as well as unblocking any excess or stagnation caused by trauma, diseases, poor lifestyle habits, stress and other environmental factors. In Chinese Medicine, diseases emerge when the there’s an unbalance or blockage in the proper circulation of Qi. Research has shown that Acupuncture has an effect in the Central Nervous System, it can stimulate the release of Neurotransmitters, activates pain receptors, stimulates hormones and has an effect in blood chemistry. Acupuncture points are chosen according to your specific diagnosis. Once the needles are in, most of our patients feel a sense of deep relaxation & even sleepiness.
